Spring Bar Cart
Florals. For Spring? Ground breaking.
(If you don't know what that's from...we need to chat.)
This Sunday I'll be hosting my first Easter brunch and I'm so excited! I've only had family over to our little apartment once so far for R's birthday, so this is basically a huge first for me. I went a little crazy with my planning and prep (I'm seriously hoping the flowers will last all week) but I wanted to make sure everything was going to turn out how I imagined it in my head!
Today I wanted to show you the bar cart I put together. Starting with the blooms, of course, since those set the tone for all the decor. I was trying to avoid the typical bright palette of "Easter" colors but once I saw the pink and yellow ranunculus my heart was sold - what can I say? That peach colored one is my personal favorite. I don't know much about arranging flowers, but I feel pretty confident pairing colors and shapes together so I usually pick a few bunches from Trader Joes and throw em in my favorite Nate Berkus vase. I ended up loving all the bright colors, they feel so happy!
The theme I'm working with for our meal is "fresh". Since its a little later than a typical brunch (well, basically lunch at this point) but I still wanted it to have a brunch-y feel, I'm serving french 75's in lieu of mimosas and lots of rose topped with edible flowers. I found these at Berkeley Bowl and this is dangerous because now I will be going there all the time.
I moved the cart next to our dining table so that it's easily accessible while we eat. Normally it sits in the living room for entertaining, but the beauty of a cart is that it has wheels and can move! I also move my faux sheepskin rugs from Ikea around quite a bit - I hate our carpet so layering rugs makes me feel better and draws attention to the vignette. Since all the flowers were so bright I kept everything else pretty simple in gray, white and blush. A basket of fresh citrus to make the french 75's seemed like the perfect finish.

See? Officially obsessed with the edible flowers. Add them to any drink and you've got instant fancy. I hope this inspires your gatherings this weekend! Any thoughts, please share them below -
